The Facade of Campidoglio in Rome

The Facade of Campidoglio in Rome

This photo was taken in the early morning, during a Rome by Day Beauty and History Photo Tour and Workshop. It shows the facade at the end of Piazza del Campidoglio, a square re-designed by Michelangelo and rebuilt between 1534 and 1538. While before the ancient square faced the Roman Forums, with Michelangelo's new design, the square looks towards the Vatican, since the Vatican was then the epicenter of power and politics.
