Allusive Reef Heron or Matuku Moana are Native to New Zealand. Another shot of the Rock Heron demonstrating absolute stealth while stalking fish in the rock pools at low tide on the South Coast of Wellington. See previous post. 100-400mm cropped. According to NZ Birds they have a conservation status of Nationally endangered with only 300-500 birds in New Zealand remaining.
