Young Dabchick mastering motoring skills

I love this Dabchick’s goofy wading feet. Their legs have adapted to be excellent for diving which means they’re not great at walking on land because they’re too far back on their body. Dabchicks are medium-sized aquatic diving birds. Endemic to New Zealand with a conservation status of recovering with an estimated population of 1900-2000 individuals. 100-400mm cropped.
