White-face heron with crab

Matuku (White-faced herons) are widespread throughout New Zealand and can be seen along lake edges, mudflats and even on damp pasture after rain. They feed on small fish, crabs, worms, beetles etc. This photo shows a White-faced heron swallowing a crab it has caught in the shallow water of an estuary. It was taken with my Olympus E-M1 MkII camera with the Olympus 150-400 mm f4.5 PRO lens at 306 mm. Camera settings were ISO 400, f5.6, 1/3200 s.
