What's that up there?

A couple of king shags contemplating life. Taken in Queen Charlotte Sound which is at the northern tip of South Island New Zealand, this is one of only a very few places where this nationally endangered bird is found. A 2015 survey showed that there were only about 900 of these birds left and there is some concern that there has been a decline since then. I feel so lucky to have seen and photographed them.

I take photographs because that is what I love to do, but I hope that through my photographs I can share a small part of that understated beauty with others.
