Tuatara are endemic to New Zealand and our largest reptile, with adult males up to about half a metre in length and weighing approximately 1.5 kg when fully grown. Their average lifespan is 60 put they can live up to 100 years old. They are recognised internationally and within New Zealand as a species in need of active conservation management.
