The Maniototo

The Maniototo is an area of vast and empty lanscapes and vast and empty skies. In the hills near the tiny hamlet of Waipiata is the old sanitorium - once a hospital for TB patients , now home to a small Christian community. I go there on retreat most years, to meditate, keep silence and wander the hills, not necessarily in that order.
