New Zealand Tui
Tui are members of the honeyeater family and their curved bill and long tongue is used to reach deep into flowers to drink nectar. Tui return to my garden mid winter to feed on the ripening Coprosma berries and oranges I place in my Kowhai trees. The two white feather tufts on their throat are called Poi and the lacy white neck collar has very fine white feathers. 70-200mm 2.8 cropped.
