Native Kererū grazing on Kōwhai leaf shoots

Kererū plucking the sweetest leaf shoots from the top of Kōwhai trees at Otari-Wilton’s Bush. 5Div 100-400mm 5.6 cropped. I waited for an hour for the Kererū to wake from their slumber/start feeding and for the sun to to be high enough in the sky to caress their beautiful plumage. My physio has suggested that I need to walk on uneven surfaces and build up to 8km carrying Camera gear after an injury. Only managed 5km and 7,000 steps today so it’s definitely going to be a challenge. I had to sit and slide slowly down a few slippery steps on my butt today to take these shots as too scared I’d fall but it’s a start. It has really helped wearing a Camera Harness for the first time so I could be hands free walking.
