Mr Tui returned to my garden this morning after being absent for a few months. Suspect now mature he’s been chasing a mate. After scrambling amongst the Kākā Beak flowers for nectar he tucked into the Tauhou’s orange. Tui are members of the honeyeater family and Tui are members of the honeyeater family and their curved bill and long tongue is used to reach deep into flowers to drink nectar. The two white feather tufts on their throat are called Poi and the lacy white neck collar has very fine white feathers.
