Leopard Seal
Special visit from a juvenile female Leopard Seal resting on Lyall Bay Beach in Wellington today. Shot this evening from the footpath looking down as the beach area has been cordoned off for the safety of the seal and public/dogs. Usually found in the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic regions but occasionally make it to New Zealand shores. They are the only Seals known to hunt and kill warm- blooded prey including other seals. 100-400mm 5.6 1/800 iso 2000. Cropped.
