Kotuku on the wing

The breathtakingly beautiful kotuku (white heron) are starting their breeding season down on the West Coast. Clustering on a small bend of the Waitangiroto River , they gather to grow their breeding plummage and play out their courtship rituals.
This is the only place in new Zealand they come to raise the next generation and it is a truly magical spot to visit
