Keruru enjoying the sun

I have never pulled a camera out of a bag faster than I did when I heard the distinctive beat of kereru wings along the main road of Hobsonville Point!
Thanks to a pest eradication programme we are seeing a big increase in native bird residents and kereru are starting to visit.
This one perched long enough on a phoenix palm branch for me to get a couple of shots before spreading its wings again and heading off into the perfect spring morning.
