Golden Tainui flower buds

Flower buds of pomaderris kumeraho, also known as golden tainui for its clusters of bright yellow flowers in spring. Also sometimes referred to as gumdigger’s soap or proverty weed, because in early colonial times, the flowers were used by gumdiggers and other Europeans as soap (they make a soapy lather when mixed with a little water). Endemic to parts of the North Island.
