Salvin’s Mollymawk Albatross: Day trip organised by BirdsNZ Wellington branch on Sunday - vessel was Seafarer II leaving from Seaview to Cooks Canyon. Albatross are scavengers of the ocean seizing food from the waters surface - they mostly eat krill, squid, small fish, crustaceans and also carrion. There are 22 Albatross species, 15 threatened with extinction. Albatross spend 80% of their lives at sea and drink seawater. They mate for life and can live to over 60 years.
